At Tesco Bank, we recognise the strategic impact that Design can have and are using it to solve a range of business problems. Our Design Practice creates real customer and business impact. We want to continue building on this and have an opening for a Design Operations Manager.
Our Design Operations Manager helps create the right conditions to enable the Design Practice to excel at Tesco Bank. They help establish toolsets, rituals, ways of working and culture to make sure we produce the very best work across all the demands for our varied skill sets: UX to Service to Proposition Design. They also help build our internal and external reputation as a Design Practice that designers want to be a part of.
The Design Operations Manager is a new role to the Practice and we see its focus including:
Finding and growing design superstars
The Design Operations Manager helps us attract, onboard, develop and retain the very best designers so that we produce high-quality work that solves genuine problems for Tesco Shoppers and create meaningful business impact. They ensure we continually evolve our capability to respond to the changing nature of demand the Bank has from Design; and keep up with trends in Design, fintech and beyond.
Setting us up for success
The Design Operations Manager ensures that Designers are equipped with the best tools in the market to do their job efficiently. They make the best use of the Practice budget to maximise value and avoid overspends. They also plan, allocate and resolve resource conflicts so that committed projects have the right level of design support and the right skill sets to be successful.
Getting us out there
The Design Operations Manager helps elevate the Design Practice with internal and external audiences. They showcase the breadth, depth and quality of the work we do; and the people behind our diverse team of Designers - so that we are perceived as an exciting, progressive and forward-thinking Design Practice.
Key skills and experience
Ability to connect, motivate and inspire others.
Practical application of human-centred design in a commercial context.
Experience in a Design Operations or UX Delivery Manager role.
Ability to work with a range of stakeholders from non-design disciplines.
Planning and prioritisation of multiple projects and resources.
Integration of Design within Agile approaches and teams.
